The specific intent of a Level I Energy Survey is to identify and define Energy Conservation Measures based on prudent energy management and mechanical practices. It includes 1 to 3 days onsite evaluation. The Level I Survey is a complete energy analysis of a building’s envelope including heating systems, cooling systems, domestic hot water, lighting system controls, water flow controls, metering/Submetering and maintenance practices.
The Survey Report is presented in sufficient detail to support preliminary funding allowing decision-makers to assess the impact of the Energy Conservation Measures on operating income. The energy survey report details a continuous energy management strategy. The key component is a practical financial review, including budgetary cost, return on investments and recommendations. The deliverables include Executive summary consistent with the Energy Survey Walkthrough, a detailed Energy Survey Report and appendix with technical data and supporting documentation.
The result will be a platform from which prudent decisions and budgeting of energy upgrades can be made.
Budgetary costs that are presented in the survey are provided for scheduling of projects, based on owner budgets for improvements. These costs are within 5%-10% (+ or -) of the actual project cost. Once projects are approved, more accurate energy savings, exact project costs and pay back periods will be presented to the owners.
The purpose of the following Energy Survey Manual is to detail the Energy Conservation Opportunities, set budgetary guidelines and calculate simple financial payback based on the defined measures. The Energy Survey Manual is designed as a guide to efficient management of your facility’s energy. Specific recommendations and objectives are based on accepted engineering practices.
